It’s like you finally found that Catholic friend you can grab coffee and geek out with over ecommerce, marketing, book publishing & more.
This newsletter is meant to feel like you are grabbing a cup of coffee with your favorite Catholic business buddy—the one who just gets it. Who could talk shop all day. Who immediately asks you how your product launch went. Who knows nothing about sourdough starters, but a lot about starting a business and making some dough$.
Except, if you are like me, this rare unicorn of a friend can be hard to find. But how else do you get all the business ideas swirling in your head out?
Hence, how this newsletter was born.
This is not another newsletter where a guru spouts strategy and tries to upsell you on a coaching package. Sorry, I don’t want to coach you. I’m in it with you. Don’t get me wrong, I’m going to share some really valuable info after being in business for 5 years… but I want to hear from you, too, no matter what stage of business you are at.
Because building a Catholic business doesn’t have to feel lonely—let’s figure it out together. ❤️
Free Subscribers Get*:
Kate’s Coffee Chats
2 posts/month where we head to the virtual café and I share a valuable business lesson or resource like I would do with a friend over coffee.
This will be SUPER helpful. I am using this newsletter to slowly release modules and resources created over 2 years of running my Academy where I taught authors how to publish their books. (Except this newsletter will be more than just publishing.)
I also love to talk about:
Discernment
Product ideation and validation
Finding and working with printers
Business and finance
Ecommerce platforms
Marketing
Copyright and permissions
Shipping and fulfillment
Lessons learned
Work-life balance
…and more!
Become a Paid Subscriber
Think of the paid subscription as moving from the café to a dinner party setting (not like The Office Season 4, Ep 13; IYKYK). I’ve invited you into my home. There is no fee to attend, but you are a polite guest with good etiquette to bring a cheap bottle of wine as a gift. In this case the bottle of wine is $10. Or buy me a $99 bottle of bourbon and we’ll continue to crack it open the whole year.
I promise it’s worth it. Paid subscribers get*:
Special unlocked posts. Sometimes my coffee chats have details or resources so good I can’t share them in a public café.
Directory of service providers (illustrators, marketers, editors, printers, book designers, etc.) and discounts. These are like my cell phone contacts. I can’t give them out unless I know you.
Monthly “What do you need help with”? discussion post. This is your chance to brain dump what you are struggling with, what decision you need to make, or what’s keeping you up at night. Leave a question and respond to a peer.
Monthly “Group Questions” discussion post. Let’s crowdsource the best resources, advice, and recs. What’s your favorite marketing tip? What’s the best business advice you’ve ever received? If you could go back in time and do something different, what would it be? We’ll all chime in, building the most epic list.
Full videos and interviews with experts (forthcoming!)
Feedback on your product if you are interested in listing it in Thy Olive Tree Marketplace. (Not available elsewhere).
*These are the current benefits. They are subject to change as I’m always making improvements and listening to subscriber feedback.
A bit about me
I’m the owner of Thy Olive Tree, a small business that sells beautiful Catholic books and stationery products. I am a bit of a serial entrepreneur, always with a new idea. I previously launched the Fiat Self-Publishing Academy (currently being folded into this newsletter) to teach everything I know about self-publishing. Most recently I opened a Marketplace for Catholic artisans to list their products in a searchable directory. I LOVE brainstorming and finding innovative ways of doing things. I can’t wait to hear about your business!
