What do you need help with?

One of the hardest parts of being in business for me is getting feedback on my ideas. They sometimes seem too personal to post in Facebook groups. Or I get in my head and start thinking, “I post too much.” Or “No one responded so my idea must be bad.” So, I ask my husband. 😂 He’s a great discerner and listener, but not always my target audience for the products I hope to create.

Anyone else have this problem? You just want a trusted friend you can confide in and bounce ideas around with?

If you raised your hand, this post is for you.

Because I want to build a layer of privacy to encourage the sharing of ideas, this is part of my “dinner party” experience. Aka only available to paid subscribers. I’ll still publicly share my own personal questions and problems AND what I decide to do, as I think this will be a great learning experience for everyone. But if you want to post your own questions, join in on the discussion, or have the opportunity for me to promote you on my Substack, you’ll need to be on a paid plan. For $10/month, you can give it a try and see how you like it.

How does it work?

  • The comments section of this post will only be visible to paid subscribers. Please login to Substack and post a question. This can be just about anything: A question you have about your business, about a product idea, about marketing, etc. (If you have self-publishing questions, I am particularly equipped to help you with those.)

  • If you post a question, respond to a peer or more! (I want to make sure you all get helped first, so responding to my question doesn’t count.) Especially if you see someone’s question go unanswered, give them some love. We all have tips, opinions, and feedback we can share.

  • I will pick a few questions to answer as well.

  • If you want to respond to my question, I’ll have it posted as a comment so you can respond to it just like anyone else’s. As a thank you, I’ll pick the very best advice I get and publicly share it in a future Substack post and note, tagging you. This is a chance to get a little extra Substack exposure. Replies via email are welcome as well, but those aren’t eligible for reshares.

Ok, so what is my question of the month?

I am finally getting back to creating, something I haven’t done in a long time! I’m hoping to release a line of prints with gorgeous, vintage images I source from the public domain. My first theme will be St. Patrick. I’ve found 10 images that I’m restoring or enhancing. I’m thinking of selling them as a set of 10 different 5x7 prints. Here’s an example of one of them I’ve restored:

Here are my questions:

What do I call this product? Notecards, holy cards, postcards, stationery sets, art prints…

Would you want envelopes to mail these? Would you want the postcard lines on the back so you could send a postcard?

I feel like they could double or triple as many of these, but when it comes to marketing, I’d like to have a focus. What sells best?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!
