Each month, I’ll pose a question for us to discuss in the comments. The goal is to crowdsource the best resources, advice, and recs. Everyone can see the question of the month and my personal answer, but only paid subscribers can join in the comments to share their answers.

Question: What’s a marketing strategy that’s working for you right now?

My answer:

I can’t believe I’m saying this, but paid ads are working for me right now. As many of you know, I’m getting ready to launch Statement Species and as I deal with quality issues on product samples (story of my life), I’m trying to build up my email list — fast!

A couple days ago I had 50 people, mostly friends and family who took pity on me. Today, I have over 300 email subscribers and I’m growing quickly.

I’m doing it for about 50 cents / subscriber. I honestly had no idea if that was good, but ChatGPT said it was excellent. And in comparison to any ad I’ve ever run previously, I am quite pleased.

I created a quiz and am sending Meta ads to that quiz. Those who take the quiz, leave their email address to get their results. It’s too soon to tell how valuable the emails will be, but I’m hoping they convert to sales on launch day. I’ve got an email sequence in place that introduces everyone to my brand slowly over the next few weeks. (Thank you Greg Johnson from Email Magic for teaching me how to do that a few years ago.)

Would you like to know step by step how I’ve done this? Tech, quiz creation, ad set-up, etc.? I’m thinking of creating a post that discusses this in more detail. Let me know if that would be helpful.
