How are you preparing for holiday sales?
November Discussion
Question: How are you preparing for holiday sales?
Black Friday / Cyber Monday (BFCM) is right around the corner. Maybe you already have a clear plan in place. Maybe, like me, you are shocked it is already November and haven’t given it much thought. Thankfully, it is not too late! Spend some time this week to make a plan, even if super simple.
Here’s what I plan to do (I think):
Run my biggest sales early. I just don’t know if I have it in me to fight through all the BFCM noise. You know… the billion emails you get per day with all the sales and deadlines. I’ve done it before. It’s A LOT of work and, to be honest, I’m usually left quite disheartened by the results. And… I don’t like feeling bummed out around Thanksgiving weekend. I’d rather eat mashed potatoes and not worry about whether my emails are opened.
I will have some sort of automatic sitewide discount on my site for those who visit during BFCM, and will likely send an email or two. But it won’t be as big of a deal.
I’ll be explaining to my email subscribers why I’m doing this. That I’m not going to busy myself with marketing and sales during a weekend that is meant for food, fun, and family. That I’m protecting my mental health by not joining the bandwagon of the latest marketing hacks and sales tactics. That I’m trying to ease up their Thanksgiving weekend by helping them shop early.
If the above plan sounds like something that could work for you, feel free to use it. I can’t say whether or not it will be effective, but I’ll share my results with you after Thanksgiving!
Your turn, what do you plan on doing?
